UPDATE <3
Hello readers ‘n listeners alike. First I wanna thank everyone for subscribing! I’m working on a lot of things and wanna keep folks up to date as well as providing a bit of transparency to spin a web of accountability for me… deadline wise. The first project I wanna put on peoples mind is a new podcast I’m working on with Prince Shakur called The Dugout. We talk news, media criticism and revolution through a queer decolonial Black anarchist perspective. We are releasing monthly episodes with possibility for shorter episodes in between! Our first episode On Copaganda, Black Anarchism, and "Judas and the Black Messiah" can be found where you listen to podcast!
The second project will be right here on my Substack! I plan on releasing book reviews and author interview on books and pieces I have found instrumental in crafting decolonial abolitionist and anti-authoritarian revolutionary cultural ties, archives and action. The first string of books will include Jorell A. Melendez- Badillo’s The Lettered Barriada, Travis Washington & Sean Swain’s The Last Act of the Circus Animals and some nonfiction works I’ve received by Modibo Kadalie. I hope to have first essay out by middle of December.
Last update is a collective is forming! We are forming a monthly newsletter & zine for radical Columbus spaces called Direct Action. I’m gathering a crew to help format, edit, produce, write, draw and handle submissions! Direct Action is hoping to cover local music, poets, zinesters, art, political and cultural events with a revolutionary aura to help strengthen our network and the distribution of information, ideas and attitudes. I hope to have first issue out in February so I plan on hosting Proposal meetings in late December! In the meeting we will discuss format and content in more detail, start drafting calls for submission and communication plans. So if you have any ideas bring them to the meeting! If you or any one you know has any interest they can fill out this form and send questions to DirectActionComms@proton.me
Welp, that’s about it! Thanks for staying to the end of a brief update! If you have any comments or question feel free to email me or direct message me on Instagram.
Solidarity,
Jordan Mays (They/Them)
